The Varsity Boys Tennis Program at Hopkins has established a lasting legacy of success in its interscholastic competition, particularly in recent years, balancing proficiency on the court with the development of long-term friendships. For the regular season, Varsity Boys Tennis competes against other Fairchester League Schools, as well as other New England teams. At the culmination of the season, Varsity Boys Tennis plays in both the Fairchester League Tournament and the New England Prep School “A” Division Tournament.
Head Coach Rodrigo Frias joined the Hopkins Tennis staff in the 2021 season. He is a tennis professional with more than 20 years of competitive playing and coaching experience. Originally from Santiago, Chile, Coach Frias began his professional tennis career competing in tournaments throughout South America, achieving the #5 national ranking as a junior player. Since 2018, he has directed the High Performance Program at Tennis Central in Woodbridge, and has coached several nationally ranked juniors players in Connecticut. He is passionate about teaching tennis and the reward that comes with seeing his students achieve their training goals. Rodrigo received a BS in Economics from the Universidad Gabriela Mistral in Chile and an M.B.A. from ITAM University in Mexico City.
Hopkins is a private middle school and high school for grades 7-12. Located on a campus overlooking New Haven, CT, the School takes pride in its intellectually curious students as well as its dedicated faculty and staff.
