A strong financial aid program at Hopkins supports qualified students who otherwise would not be able to attend the School. Grants are awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need, and aid is available at all grade levels. Because the award of financial aid is a commitment to a family, continuing assistance can be anticipated so long as financial need continues to be demonstrated each year.

Hopkins' financial aid program is need-based: that is, where a family demonstrates need, the School attempts to offset the cost of a Hopkins education relative to the particular family's need. Aid decisions are guided by financial data submitted by parents to Hopkins and reviewed by the School's Financial Aid Committee. There are no scholarships based exclusively on merit at Hopkins.

Because each family is unique and financial circumstances vary so widely, no strict formula determines the amount of need. Instead, the Financial Aid Committee proceeds on a case-by-case basis, and all awards are in the form of outright grants.

Financial aid is awarded annually and for one year at a time. Therefore, all aid recipients must complete the full application process each year. If a family fails to meet the deadlines or to abide by the process parameters, the student may not be funded, even if he/she received aid the previous year. The needs of such families are considered only after all other families' needs have been met.

Financial aid applications are due January 3rd from families of current students and January 20th from families of students applying for admission to Hopkins. Financial aid decisions are made by a separate committee and have no bearing on the admissions process. Applications are available in November, and will be available to download from this page, or packets can be requested from the Financial Aid Office. Email questions to kgrassmann@hopkins.edu
