Hopkins School is fortunate to have an able dedicated faculty, outstanding facilities, a broad and exciting program, and, most important, a wonderfully talented, active, and committed student body. The young people who come to Hopkins are very bright, highly motivated students who love to be challenged and stimulated intellectually, both in and out of the classroom. The primary entry levels are at 7th and 9th grades, although a few students are admitted in the other grades, especially 10th. Hopkins accepts 40% to 50% of applicants, depending on the grade level. The Admissions Committee looks carefully at each candidate’s grades, teacher recommendations, and standardized test results, but it is also interested in evidence of a strong sense of commitment, as Hopkins is a place where everyone is actively involved.
While this site can provide a great deal of useful information, it should not be a substitute for a visit to campus. Please follow up your research by visiting classes for a day and coming in for an interview. Call the Admissions Office at (203) 397-1001 x 211 to request application information; hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
