One of the missions of Breakthrough New Haven is to prepare middle school students for academic success in high school and beyond. As a consequence, Breakthrough New Haven is centered on a superior academic program.
In past years, the student-to-faculty ratio at Breakthrough has been a breathtaking three-to-one. Furthermore, most classes have had fewer than six students. The personal attention that each student receives during classes at Breakthrough New Haven is unparalleled at most schools public, parochial, or private. Because the program is able to offer classes with few students, the possibility and probability of academic improvement is very high. During each class, students can ask questions, receive necessary extra help, and explore enrichment topics that would be impossible to study at a conventional school.
As middle school students make the transition into a rigorous high school program, many students find themselves unprepared to meet the required workload. Breakthrough helps prepare students for academic success in high school by integrating study skills into each class. Furthermore, students become accustomed to taking six challenging courses. Breakthrough students leave the program academically prepared to enter and to succeed in the most superior high school programs.
While we are always looking to the future, we also want to reconnect with our past students, teachers, and directors. Please let us know your current contact information so we can inform you of future reunions and social events, college counseling workshops, college trips, local and national alumni networking, and job placement opportunities.
