Over break the Hopkins varsity Boy's Basketball team travelled to Disney for a training & tournament trip. Head Coach Rocco DeMaio reports on their trip.
From the desk of Head Coach, Rocco DeMaio:
Fourteen members of the Hopkins varsity boy’s basketball team travelled to a tournament in and a six-day training trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The boys played three tournament games and two non-tournament games against teams from all over the country. All of the games were played at the Disney Wide World of Sports- Milkhouse Athletic Complex.
The team enjoyed a variety of activities at Disney World and in the Orlando area. They took advantage of the 4 day park-hopper passes, and got to all of the main attractions at the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. In addition to the Disney attractions the team attended a Celebration of Athletes party, hosted by the tournament organizers, at Orlando’s Universal Studios/Island of Adventure theme park. While the team played a lot of basketball they were also treated to an NBA game between the Orlando Magic and Milwaukee Bucks. The boys rang in the New Year at Disney’s Epcot Center, and that capped off a week long itinerary of competition and fun.
The trip offered us the perfect opportunity to stay sharp and prepare for the rest of our season. With the Disney '09 trip in the books, the team has put all their focus on the remainder of their highly competitive schedule.
