School banners get a spring cleaning
3/17/10
While the students and faculty were away in exotic locales for Spring Break, the class banners from over 70 years came out of storage to be prepped for the big 350th Celebration coming in June.
The gymnasium floor was covered with so much Hopkins History as the class banners bearing thousands of alumni/ae names were taken out of storage and spread out over plastic sheets. The banners covered two thirds of the gym and were each coated with fire proofing material in preparation for them to be hung inside "the big tent" that will sit atop the Hopkins Hill for the 350th Celebration on June 12th, 2010. Your intrepid photographer braved the heights of the closed bleachers to snap a few shots of what may be the only time these banners will be spread out together for a long while. Many thanks to all the Maintenance crew for their help and care in handling the banners as well as David DuBois who was kind enough to unlock the upper gym doors.
