The Class of 2016 Graduates!
This morning at a beautiful ceremony on the Hill, 144 members of the Class of 2016 graduated from Hopkins, surrounded by family, friends, faculty and staff.
Head of School, Barbara Riley, started the festivities, followed by an Invocation by Imam Omer Bajwa, Coordinator for Muslim Life of the Chaplain's Office at Yale University. Senior Class President, Sophie Cappello, gave the Salutatory address, and later presented Mrs. Riley with the Senior Class Gift. This year, the seniors raised over $14,000 to begin an endowed scholarship fund in honor of Barbara Riley, who is retiring as Head of School this year. Senior Michael Bass delivered an eloquent and powerful Valedictory Address.
Vince Calarco, President of the Hopkins Committee of Trustees, accompanied by Head Adviser Lars Jorgensen, delivered diplomas to each graduating senior.
Following the conclusion of the Commencement ceremony, the Faculty and Committee of Trustees formed a receiving line to congratulate every graduate. Handshakes, smiles, hugs, and tears continued for about half an hour as the students said goodbye to their Hopkins teachers and mentors and found their way to their proud families.
