High School Admissions Information

We encourage and assist our students and their families in applying to academically rigorous high school programs. When our are placed and supported in academically challenging high school programs, they thrive and are better prepared to complete college. During their high school years, our students should surrounded by a nurturing community of peers, teachers, and administrators for whom college is the primary, overriding objective.

A Better Chance - Learn about A Better Chance (ABC), an organization has been opening the door to educational opportunities for thousands of young people of color for more than 50 years. ABC’s mission is to increase substantially the number of well-educated young people of color who are capable of assuming positions of responsibility and leadership in American society. They carry out this mission through their signature College Preparatory Schools Program (“CPSP”), which annually recruits, refers and supports about 500 A Better Chance Scholars at more than 300 of the nation’s leading boarding, day and public schools.

Apply to A Better Chance - If you qualify, you can apply to to become an ABC Scholar and gain access to multiple independent schools by completing just one application.

Learn About A Better Chance’s Community Schools Programs - Learn more about ABC’s unique programs that allow their Scholars to live in a suburban community with an excellent school system. Five to twelve Scholars typically reside in a house, supervised by resident directors and tutors, and attend the local public high school which is ranked among the most competitive in the country. The program is run by a Board of Directors and supported financially by the community. Because CSPs are programs involving public high schools, they do not charge tuition. Some programs may request nominal contributions.
