Members of the varsity fencing team competed in individual states this past weekend.  This weekend, some members will be competing in the team states competition.
Last week, Hopkins had 5 top 8 finishes in the individual tournament.  As a result, the Hilltoppers qualified 4 teams for the team event this upcoming weekend.  Philip Genakopolos earned 8th place in the boys sabre.  In the girls sabre, Emma Bucklan placed 6th, while Sarah Srivichitranond placed 2nd.  In boys epee, Jarett Poliner placed 5th, and Aaron Kogan took the top spot.

The team event will be hosted by Bridgeport Central High School this Saturday, March 14th. Hopkins boys epee team is the number one seed, and our boys sabre team is the fifth seed.  For the girls, epee is the sixth seed.  The girls sabre team was the number one seed, but will not be fencing this weekend.  Boys start fencing at 9:00 AM.
