Hopkins’ Music Program Shines in Annual Concert

The Hopkins Art Department presented its annual Spring Concert on Tuesday, April 30th at Church of the Redeemer in New Haven. The program reflected a varied selection of traditional, contemporary and eclectic offerings that showcased the deep bench of musical talent on display at Hopkins. Selections ranged from Rossini’s William Tell Overture and Shostakovich’s String Quartet No 8 in C Minor to Rachmaninoff’s Bogoroditse Devo and Stevie Wonder’s Superstition. The newly-formed Treble Choir performed Esenvalds’ Only in Sleep and the combined Concert Choir and Orchestra concluded the evening with Faure’s Requiem, Op. 48.

Members of the graduating senior class took to the podium throughout the evening to share personal reflections of how Hopkins’ music program has enhanced their lives and strengthen their skills.
