HDA Receives 14 HALO Nominations

We are thrilled to announce that Hopkins Drama has been honored with 14 nominations for Halo Awards!

Founded in 2004 by the Seven Angels Theatre in Waterbury, the program recognizes the contributions of students to their high school theater programs. Since its founding, the Halo Awards has become the largest such program in the state of Connecticut with over 50 private and public schools participating. This is Hopkins' second year participating in these awards.

A school is eligible to nominate three productions each school year for a Halo Award adjudicator to attend, and then, in conference with the other adjudicators, the award nominees are selected. Schools are also invited to bring a short scene or musical number to the awards night. A school does not have to be nominated for an award to perform at this event. The goal of the Halo process is ultimately to celebrate the importance of theater in education at the high school level.

Given the size of the awards program, there are now two divisions that are roughly determined by geography. Hopkins is in the same division as Chase Collegiate and Westover, as well as Cheshire and Darien High Schools, among others.

Hopkins will be attending the Wednesday, June 1st ceremony at the Palace Theatre in Waterbury, CT. Students will be performing a musical number from Legally Blonde. The evening begins at 7:00 pm and, if anyone wishes to attend, tickets can be purchased by calling The Seven Angels Theatre at (203) 757-4676.
