Master Class with the "Singing Chef"

On Monday February 20, Mrs. Bennitt’s Spanish students were immersed in a special on-campus visit from Neil Fuentes, the singing chef. Fuentes is currently a director of the New Haven Academy of Performing Arts. He spoke to the students (in Spanish) about fleeing repression in Venezuela, coming to the US, and the different professional endeavors he has pursued, incorporating his passion for the performing arts and a career as a professional chef. Fuentes has competed on the Food Network, and has an online feature on the Food Channel. After sharing his background he taught the students some salsa moves, and after burning plenty of calories the group enjoyed some delicious arepas that Fuentes and his colleagues prepared.
