Special guests Berman ’11 and Hansen visit AP Chinese

The AP Chinese classes have recently had two interesting visitors come to class, who brought their experiences and expertise with them.

On Tuesday, April 25th, Alison Berman ’11 visited the AP Chinese and Chinese 6 Honor classes. She talked about her experience living in China and her travel to many Southeast Asian countries. Her experience was both inspiring and fun to hear. She speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese and students had a great time meeting her.

On May 15th, Professor Valerie Hansen, who is the mother of Lydia Stepanek ‘08, Claire Stepanek ‘11, and Bret Stepanek ‘15, came to Ms. Lin’s AP Chinese class and gave a presentation on the famous Chinese painting 清明上河图 Along the River During the Qingming Festival by Zhang Zeduan. Professor Hansen teaches Chinese and World History at Yale, where she is professor of History. Students from the AP Chinese class had a wonderful time examining the painting and learning about history from both Song Dynasty and modern China.
