Varsity Girls Lacrosse Outscores Gunnery

For the third time this season, Hopkins found themselves trying to protect a multiple goal lead with less than five minutes remaining in the game.  The first two occasions ended badly as the Hilltoppers squandered those leads and ultimately lost those contests in sudden death overtime.  It looked as though history would repeat itself yet again when Gunnery scored three goals in a span of three minutes to tie the game with 1:12 remaining on the clock.  But this time, Annie Banks decided that she had had enough and after winning the draw, she took off for the goal sprinted past several hapless defenders and buried her shot to take back the lead with less than a minute on the clock.  Hopkins then controlled the ensuing draw and held on to the ball to run out the clock and secure the win.  Annie's performance was all the more impressive as she had returned literally at game time from a 24-hour college visiting trip to North Carolina.

Annie Banks led Hopkins with 5 goals; Sophia Kyrcz, Dunia Habboosh, and Casey Goldberg each scored twice, and Lydia McGrath and Rachel Stefanowski each scored once.  Aislinn O'Brien had a strong performance in goal with 7 saves.

Final score, Hopkins 13 - Gunnery 12.
