The Class of 2017 Graduates!

This morning at a beautiful ceremony on the Hill, 138 members of the Class of 2017 graduated from Hopkins, surrounded by family, friends, faculty and staff.

Head of School, Kai Bynum, started the festivities, followed by an Invocation by Rev. Dr. J. Sergius Halvorsen, of St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary and parent to graduate Tim Halvorsen. Senior Class President, Sanaea Bhagwagar, gave the Salutatory address, and later presented Dr. Bynum with the Senior Class Gift. This year, the seniors are presenting the School with a bronze goat statue, our Hilltopper mascot.  Senior Hannah Melchinger delivered an eloquent and moving Valedictory Address.
 
Vince Calarco, President of the Hopkins Committee of Trustees, accompanied by Head Adviser Joel D’Angelo, delivered diplomas to each graduating senior.
 
Following the conclusion of the Commencement ceremony, the Faculty and Committee of Trustees formed a receiving line to congratulate every graduate. Handshakes, smiles, hugs, and tears continued for about an hour as the students said goodbye to their Hopkins teachers and mentors and found their way to their proud families.
