A Month in Italy

Five HOPKINS Italian students – Lexi Zyskowski '20, Aaron Kleeman '19, Ryan Viores '19, Caitlin Gilroy' '18, and Emilia Cottignoli '18 traveled to Ferrara, Italy with Hopkins Italian teacher Teresa Picarazzi.  From July 8 through August 5, the students participated in an Italian Language and Culture immersion program through CIEE (the Council on International Educational Exchange), with 35 other students from all over the United States.  Our students lived with host families and learned to navigate a medium sized Italian city by bike, while taking Italian classes in the morning and participating in activities in the afternoon that ranged from touring Castello Estense (home of Lucrezia Borgia) to pasta-making.  On the weekends, the group went on excursions to Ravenna, the Republic of San Marino, Venice and Florence. What an incredible experience!
