Nineteen Hopkins Students named 2018 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists

Congratulations to our 2018 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists:  Kieran Anderson, John Atkins, Jeffrey Basta, Alexandra Blitzer, David Darrow, Samantha Dies, Clara Everett, James Fossati, Bryan Gu, Joshua Ip, Alexander Kane, Helena Lyng-Olsen, Andrew Marks, Elijah Sabin, Phillip Schmitt, Dylan Sloan, Raymond Wang, and Kristina Yarovinsky.

With nineteen students recognized, Hopkins fields the largest number of 2018 semifinalists in Connecticut, from both public and independent schools.

Nearly 16,000 high school students were recognized nationwide as semifinalists based on their 2016 PSAT scores. To advance to finalist standing, semifinalists must complete an application, provide academic transcripts, write an essay, receive a recommendation from a school official, and earn an SAT score that confirms the PSAT performance. Finalists will become eligible for scholarships either through the National Merit Corporation, participating colleges and universities or participating corporations.
