Hopkins Musicians Celebrate the Holiday Season

Hopkins Art Department presented its annual Music of Winter concert to a full house at Battell Chapel in New Haven on  December 12th.  Co-presidents of the Concert Choir, Kieran Anderson ’18 and Naomi Roberts ’18 individually greeted the audience, sharing their personal gratitude for “this community of incredible musicians” they have been a part of over the past four years. 

The raw talent and moving power of that community was on full display during a program featuring the Concert Choir, Hopkins Orchestra, Junior School Chorus, Chamber Quartet and the Eighth Grade Chorus.  Works performed included Beethoven’s Allegro ma non troppo from Symphony No. 4 and Rossini’s Overture from Barber of Seville; O Magnum Mysterium, Oba Ti De and Laudate Dominum.   Erika Schroth, Director of Choral Music and Robert Smith, Director of Instrumental Music and Chair of Hopkins Art Department led the program.

Keeping with tradition, alumni/ae were invited to join the Choirs and Orchestra for “Oh, Holy Night,” conducted by Gyan Maria ’18 and “Hallelujah Chorus.”
