Jazz/Rock Ensemble at the Berklee High School Jazz Festival

On Saturday, February 10th, the Jazz/Rock ensemble performed at the Berklee College of Music's High School Jazz Festival in Boston, MA. This was Hopkins's first-ever participation in a competitive music festival, and this festival is the largest of it’s kind in the USA. Along with nearly 200 other bands from around the country, the Jazz/Rock ensemble performed for a judge's panel and audience of renowned jazz musicians, including the composer who wrote some of the music they played. Music Directors Robert Smith and Chris DeVona reported that it was an amazing experience, and the best part of all was seeing legendary musician Ellis Marsalis and his son Jason Marsalis perform live at the awards ceremony. Smith also said, “Not only were Hopkins parents in attendance at our Jazz/Rock performance, but we also had several other jazz bands stop in to hear us play and cheer us on.  It was truly unforgettable.” Congratulations to our jazz/rock musicians!
