Orientation Day 2018

Excitement ran high today as incoming students and families came to the Hopkins campus for an activity-packed day of orientation. Seventh graders were greeted in the gym by Head of School Kai Bynum who welcomed them as the Class of 2024–comprised of 69 students from 28 towns in Connecticut. Ninth graders and their families gathered in Heath Dining Hall where new and returning students met one another and their adviser. The purpose of orientation day is to give new students an opportunity to spend time in their adviser group, meet their senior mentor and new friends, review their class schedule and room locations, receive tech support and participate in a specially-designed outdoor adventure program. A highlight of the day is exploring the campus via a scavenger hunt rewarded with sweets along the way.

In his remarks to students and parents, Dr. Bynum spoke of Hopkins as a place where students start putting things together, exploring their intellectual curiosity and trying new activities and interests. “We are here to guide that journey.”
