Hopkins welcomes Yali Peicui students

Hopkins is honored to host a delegation of students and faculty from the Yali Peicui School in sister city, Changsha, China for the next few days. At this morning's assembly, the schools celebrated each other and a shared commitment to education and student development, with addresses by Head of School Dr. Bynum, Yali Peicui Principal Mr. Cao, Dean of Academics David Harpin, and Art Department Chair Robert Smith, who introduced a collaborative art project soon to be displayed at Hopkins before it is sent to its final home at the Yali Peicui School. Students from both schools offered beautiful performances, including music from The Incredibles by the Hopkins Band, and a recitation and dance performance from the Yali Peicui students. Assembly ended with a presentation of gifts. The delegation will attend classes today as well as the Durham Fair and Back to School Bash tomorrow. Many Hopkins students are hosting Yali Peicui students in their homes, in an added emersion experience.

Many thanks to the Global Initiatives Committee, including Modern Language Department Chair Lan Lin, Qi Li and Ran Ran, for their hard work in arranging a meaningful and important partnership with Yali Peicui.
