Field Hockey Update

Amanda Leone '20
The Hopkins Varsity Field Hockey team has played five games so far in the 2018 fall season.  While they did not win the season opening game at St. Luke’s, losing by just two goals, they were diligent and worked hard the entire time.

The girls had a great game against Holy Child at the home opener, displaying their impressive skills and winning with two goals, scored by Fiona O’Brien ‘21 and Clare Chemery ‘19.  Following, the girls had challenging games against Greenwich Academy and Sacred Heart where captain and goalie Naomie Tomlin ‘19 make countless phenomenal saves. Regardless of the score, the whole team kept its composure and confidence throughout.

Most importantly, the team chemistry is incomparable.  All the girls get along really well and are always excited for opportunities to be together and play.  The team’s Buddy System ensures the girls build off of eachother, improving the collective energy of the team.

With every practice or game, all the girls play relentlessly and fight hard, and the cohesive spirit of the team keeps growing.  During the past week’s practices, the team continued training, in preparation for its home game against GFA. The girls previously scrimmaged GFA during preseason and have drastically improved since, and therefore are extremely ready and excited for their game against GFA.
