Doug Prusoff '08 and the Movember Foundation

On Monday, November 5, Hopkins was honored by a visit from Doug Prusoff ’08, who spoke at assembly about both his Hopkins experience, as an active student and athlete, and his current role at the Movember Foundation. The Movember Foundation works to promote awareness of men’s health issues, with a mission is to “change the face of men’s health” in the month of November by encouraging men to grow mustaches, have conversations and raise funds for prostate and testicular cancer research, as well as mental health and suicide prevention. Prusoff shared a deeply personal story of a family member who struggled with mental health, and how this experience affected his family, and ultimately his career path to work to help men around the globe. Prusoff encouraged anyone in the community who has a man in their life, whether a dad, brother, son, husband, partner, or friend, to encourage them to talk about men’s health issues and keep up with recommended annual health check-ups.

Prusoff was introduced at assembly by his former coach Director of Athletics Rocco DeMaio ’86, as well as fellow alum and Director of Equity and Community Becky Harper ’07. Prusoff’s parents were in attendance as well, and it was a pleasure to have them all back on the Hill.
