7th Graders enjoy a "Dickens Day"

On the afternoon of January 14, the 7th grade participated in a special Dickens Day program arranged by their English teachers in lieu of an exam.  The program began with a performance by teaching artists from Elm Shakespeare, who then led "Embodied Language" workshops with the students to help them interpret the literary works of Dickens and Shakespeare. Next, the students filled the dining room and took on the role of workhouse children, lining up for a bowl of gruel from the Beadle, played by Mike King, Director of Dining Services. The afternoon ended with a special pick-pocket workshop.
