Student Musicians at the 2021 CMEA Regionals & All-State Festivals

This year, Hopkins had 28 students in Grades 7-12 audition and win a seat in the prestigious CMEA Regionals and All-State Festivals.  While the pandemic forced the High School Regionals participants to forgo their event, the Middle School Band and Jazz students were able to attend special online masterclasses on April 30 and May 1, learning from some of the top educators in the field. Of the 20 High School Regionals winners from Hopkins, 12 went on to win a seat in this year's virtual All-State festival, held on Saturday, April 24.  Students rehearsed and attended masterclasses online in CMEA's first virtual ensemble gathering, connecting with other young musicians from across the state.  On May 1, our students, along with over three hundred other All-State musicians from dozens of schools across Connecticut, submitted recordings of their music from the festival and are now currently awaiting to see and hear the results of their efforts.  From September to May, Regionals and All-State has been a long journey for these students, filled with many hours of practice, auditions, festivals and recordings.  Congratulations to the musicians below, please click through to see all 28 musicians!
