Hopkins hosted the 2023 Student Diversity Leadership Conference

The Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC) has been a longstanding opportunity for students who attend independent schools in Connecticut to come together, learn, connect, and have fun, while also discussing and engaging on topics related to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ).

This year, Hopkins was honored to host the SDLC on April 2, 2023, the first in-person conference since the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, in an effort to reconnect our school communities and students, as well as reinvigorate the momentum around DEIJ issues and initiatives.

On the day of, the campus was abuzz with excitement and anticipation from students and adults alike. Each grade-level had a tailored session facilitated by members of the Commission for Diversity in Independent Schools (CODIS), a group affiliated with the Connecticut Association for Independent Schools (CAIS), and adult participants engaged with three different workshops. All the workshops ranged in topic and theme, from identity, allyship, and community, to wellness, and joy all through the lens of DEIJ.

We are so grateful for all of the amazing work of CAIS and CODIS in putting together such a powerful and impactful program, and we were delighted to be hosting such an important and valuable event on our very own campus. Click here to browse all photos, taken by our own Sergio Lopez.
