Fencing - Girls Varsity
2018 - 2019
Head Coach: Emilie Harris
The Hopkins Fencing team competes against schools from Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts. Recent Hopkins graduates have gone on to successful college fencing careers at Johns Hopkins, Harvard, University of Pennsylvania, and Vassar, among other schools.
Hopkins fields teams in three weapons at the Varsity level. The primary goal of the coaching staff is to train fencers in the fundamentals of the sport while developing a love and understanding for fencing. No student who wishes to learn and works hard in practice is ever turned away from the team.
Head Coach Emilie Harris is a graduate of Hopkins and a former member of the fencing team. Currently, she serves as a board member and treasurer to the Connecticut High School Fencing Association. She has coached for over 10 years, and coaches epee, foil, and saber. Coach Harris is also a member of the Hopkins Science Department.
