Track and Field has a longstanding tradition in Hopkins Athletics. The team competes in various meets throughout the season, and competes against both private and public schools. Track and Field strives to make athletes better through a variety of strength, conditioning, and running drills, and employs other practices such as yoga.
Head Coach Michael Christie joined the coaching staff in 2017. A former Track and Field athlete for UConn, Coach Christie was a nominee for Big East Athlete of the Decade in 1988. Additionally, he was an Olympic Trials finalist that same year. He has been working with track athletes for over 20 years, and is a Certified USA Track & Field Official. Coach Christie is also trained in Sports Meditation. Outside of coaching for Hopkins, Dr. Christie coaches for the Hawks Track Club of New Haven, and works as a Chaplain for the Connecticut Department of Corrections.
