Volunteering at Pathfinder

Student Volunteers
Pathfinder has limited opportunities for volunteers during the academic year and summer programs.

Academic Year - During the academic year, there are opportunities for fewer than 40 students to volunteer at the program as an in-class assistant to a professional teacher. Volunteering during the academic year at Pathfinder requires completing a thorough application, attending one or two training sessions in late Fall (times TBD), and a consistent, weekly commitment on Thursday afternoons for 1.5 hours beginning in January.

If you are a Hopkins student looking to volunteer at Pathfinder during the academic year, be on the lookout for an email detailing the application process in late September or early October. Typically, there are fewer volunteer positions than there are applicants so be sure to complete a quality application and turn it in on-time. Preference is typically given to former Pathfinder students, students who have volunteered for Pathfinder before, students who have relevant experience volunteering at another similar program, and students who are in 11th and 12th grades.

If you are a non-Hopkins student or a former Pathfinder student looking to volunteer at Pathfinder during the academic year, please send an email to pathfinder@hopkins.edu in late September to receive information about the application process. Preference is typically given to students who have volunteered for Pathfinder before, have relevant experience volunteering at another similar program, and students who are in 11th and 12th grades.

Summer Program - There are opportunities for fewer than 6 students to volunteer during the summer program. Volunteering at the summer program requires an application and a consistent time commitment to be determined by your schedule and the needs of the program. To inquire about volunteering during the summer, send an email to pathfinder@hopkins.edu by April 1st. Someone from the program will be in touch with you by April 15th.

If you are interested in employment at the Summer Program as a Teaching Fellow, please check the "Apply" tab in January for more details about the position, what we are looking for, and how to apply. Decisions for summer Teaching Fellows are usually released by April 1st.
