The 1660 Associates is composed of those who have informed the School that they have included a bequest or created another planned gift that names Hopkins as a beneficiary. Hopkins Grammar School began in 1660 with the first charitable trust in America, and Edward Hopkins' gift of £412 initiated a long tradition of supporting the School through planned giving. Hopkins encourages donors to make provisions in their wills, trusts, or retirement plans for the long-term benefit of the School. Planned gifts, particularly bequests, can have a tremendous impact on Hopkins' future. At Hopkins, the 1660 Associates recognizes the extraordinary generosity of friends of the School who have chosen to remember Hopkins in their wills or through a charitable trust, gift annuity, or life insurance plan.

Bequests

A bequest is a simple, flexible way to support Hopkins without affecting your current cash flow or lifestyle. By including Hopkins in your Estate Plan, you secure your legacy by supporting Hilltoppers for generations to come.

Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)

A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is a powerful and advantageous way to grow your philanthropic support. With tax-deductible contributions that can grow tax-free, your fund allows you to recommend grants to Hopkins and make a meaningful impact year after year.

Retirement Plans

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) allows IRA owners age 70½ or older to make tax-free gifts during their lifetime. By giving to Hopkins through your IRA, you may reduce taxable income, potentially avoid a higher tax bracket, and — if you are age 73 or older — have your gift count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
