I Want To Apply To Hopkins: A Simple How-To Guide

Applications are due January 15, 2018.

Visit Campus
Open House is October 22
Tour Days are November 8 and 29, December 13

If you already know you want to apply, you can also take a tour when you come for your interview. Ask Mrs. Eggert when you schedule your appointment.

Schedule the SSAT or ISEE test
You need to take either the SSAT or ISEE to apply to Hopkins, we have no preference which one. On December 9, Hopkins is hosting the SSAT, but you can take either test wherever and whenever is convenient for you. We recommend, however, that you do not wait to take the test for the first time in January, as in the case of inclement weather, tests may not be rescheduled. You need to take the test by January in order for your results to arrive in time to complete your application.

Complete your application
You must complete Parts I-IV of the application before you can come in for your interview. Do not wait until January 15 to do this.

Interview
You can schedule your interview as soon as Parts I-IV of the application have been submitted. Your interview is a 30 minute chat with you, followed by a 30 minute chat with your parent(s)/guardian(s). The interview is a chance to get to know you in person and answer any questions you may have about Hopkins or the application process.

Submit the rest of your application materials
In order to have a completed application on file by January 15, you will need the following:
Application Parts I-IV
Current Math Teacher Recommendation
Current English Teacher Recommendation
Current Administrator Recommendation
Current Grades
Test Scores (SSAT or ISEE)
Interview
(Financial Aid Applications are also due by January 15)

Shadow Day
Once you come for an interview, you are welcome to come back and spend a day on campus with a current student. This is optional. You can set this up with your interviewer or call the office at a later date. Shadow Days should be completed by the end of January.

Other Optional Pieces
Applicants may submit a graded writing sample from this current school year and/or a short essay. Information about both can be found in Part IV of the application.
This year, Hopkins is also participating in Snapshot by SSAT. More information about that can be found here

Decisions
Admission decisions will go out along with Financial Aid decisions (if applicable) at the end of February.

If you have questions about any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact the Admission Office: admission@hopkins.edu or 203.397.1001x211 or visit the Admission website.
