The Hopkins girls and boys' XC teams attended the final FAA regular-season meet on Wed 10/17, at Sherwood Island State Park. All FAA teams competed, and all scores were calculated dually (each team against every other team individually).
In contrast to the race in late September, the course was much drier and consequently ran much faster.
The girls ran first, and the race went very well. Senior captain Maliya Ellis ran a strong race, running 19:52 for second place. Hannah Szabo was 5th overall, Elena Brennan 6th, and Kaitlin Forman 7th. Taking the 5th scoring spot for Hopkins was Ranease Brown, with Mei Han our 6th runner, and Lily Meyers running a strong race to take the last varsity spot. On a day when many Hopkins girls were sick or injured, many others stepped up, and everyone's performances were notable. Izzy Lopez Kalapir ran a strong race, as did Kat Takoudes and Ellie Medovnikov. Emma Regan ran one of her best races of the season, and Norah Schmitt beat her personal goal from earlier in the season by minutes. Kallie Schmeisser returned to run a strong race, and Rita Roberts ran her best race ever.

The boys ran second. They were without #1 runner Nic Burtson, playing it safe with an injury. Senior Charlie Mason won the race in 17:34, followed closely by junior David Judd in 17:35. Senior captain Connor Hartigan was 3rd in 18:06. Senior Alex Hughes kicked hard to finish 11th, just in front of #12 Will Cooper. JR Stauff was the 6th Hopkins runner, in 15th place, and Jack Keegan ran a particularly good race to snag the 7th varsity spot.

Similarly, Milo Sobel-Lewin and Chris Takoudes ran their best races of the year. Kristjan Arnarsson, returning from injury and illness, ran a strong race, kicking hard.
