JS Girls Soccer ‘A’ Narrowly Loses to K-O

On a clear but bitterly cold day, the JS Girls ‘A’ Team played a ruggedly contested game against a big and fast K-O ‘A’ Team. The Hopkins midfield challenged strongly throughout and the defense stayed calm under pressure, but our forwards were unable to convert on the few opportunities that came along. At times, the game turned into more of a physical challenge and unfortunately the K-O girls had an advantage on that front. Hopkins JS Girls will have to learn to better counter physical play with smart play (passing and running into space rather than trying to go through an opposing defender). It should be a lesson to the team that our most effective players are actually our smaller players: Emilie Weyler and Meghan Davis to name but a couple. Again special mention goes to Rebecca Schutzengel for her brave and smart goalkeeping, which kept Hopkins in the game until the end. Congratulations on yet another great effort, and let’s see if we can better channel that effort to success in our last game next week against Hamden Hall!
