5th Annual Hopkins Model U.N.

Hopkins held its 5th annual Model UN Conference on Saturday, April 27th. Hosting over one-hundred delegates from seven schools from all over the state, HOPMUN 2019 tackled many global issues such as the crisis in Venezuela and Brexit.

Yale Director of Genocide Studies and Senior Political Science lecturer, Professor David Simon, opened the conference by discussing the how the failure of the UN during the Rwandan genocide led to institutional changes within the organization that has better enabled the UN to respond to genocides around the world since.

Club leader Ben Levine and HOPMUN Secretary General Elena Brennan organized the day and all committees were chaired by Hopkins Model UN student leaders. The conference proved to be an engaging and provocative experience for all who attended.
