What a lovely Saturday afternoon for tennis: Sunny and 70 degrees with only a light breeze. GCDS came ready to play with a few new talented and well trained members on their roster. Teo faced one of these tough competitors in Ben Schuessler, who started out strong and managed to fight throughout the super tiebreaker. Karun also had his hands full at the #4 singles position with an opponent who had good control of the ball. Max was able to shut down a second-set charge from his opponent, who also fought quite valiantly today. Lucio demonstrated the "Meeting triumph with dispare.....impostors just the same" quote from Kipling found in the entrance to Centre Court and got the job done.

Our doubles teams, who all went out first, were key to our win today. Jay and Andy played neck and neck with GCDS D1 for most of the second set before getting the W. Matthew and Jacob were steady as well, with good control of the net. After winning the first set at Love, Lucas and Bryan somehow found themselves down 0-3 in the second in the D3 spot. But they were able to win the final six games with good first serves and quick hands at net.

We did well today to secure a win against a team that has improved each of the last two years. We'll gear up for two matches this week: Gunn School on Monday, and FAA Rival  Green Farms Academy on Wednesday. Then we'll go to GFA for the FAA tournament. Looking forward to it!

YEAH HOP!
