Sacred Heart Turn Up Short-handed but not Under-Powered to beat JV Girls Tennis (2-5)

Seemingly due to a combination of SAT/AP’s and miscommunication, Sacred Heart turned up with only 7 players, necessitating a reshuffling of match-ups and “exhibition” games. Against this backdrop, and on a cold and blustery afternoon, Hopkins JV Girls did not perform up at their potential and a number of relatively close contests went against them. Notable exceptions were Bohree Kim, who showed tremendous patience and resilience in her first singles match-up this year, and Rachel Copel, who made short work of an outmatched opponent in her exhibition singles. The toughest task of the day was faced by the third pair of Laura McNamara and Natalie Baumann who were asked to come in cold to face the second pair from Sacred Heart who had just handily beaten Jessica Moffet and Sasha Burger. Overall, a disappointing match result after a long lay-off due to consecutive rain cancellations.

Next stop, the formidable Greenwich Academy girls!
