Girls Notes

With the season only three weeks old, the first meet  is usually a time to see what our new additions can do to help the team in the long haul.   In our meet against K-O,  the girls won 11 of the 12 events, with the 100 fly being won by Caroline Coolidge of K-O, and Kylie Stengel only six tenths of a second behind.  Other notable swims for Hopkins were Ashley Reidy in the 200 free with a time of 2:06.61, Rebecca Maher in the 200 IM in a time of 2:15.58, and Meghan Davis winning the 50 free with a 27.03.  In the diving new comer Lauren Kahan dove to a total of 141.60 points in her first meet and won the event.  The second half of the meet saw more strong performances by Danielle young in the 100 free with a time of 56.46, Meghan Earley in the 500 free winning with a 5:22.93, Elizabeth Baumgartner with a 1:07.21 in the backstroke, and Maggie Grimes touching first in the breastroke with a 1:17.07.  The teams next opponent will be Williston Northampton next Wednesday at Williston at 3:00pm.  Complete results can be found at www.nepssa.org, dual meets 2009.

Boys Notes

With a very short pre-season to get ready, the first meet was held today against a solid Kingswood Oxford team.  The boys were able to out-swim their opponents to go on and win all 12 events.  Individual event winners were Pablo Cuevas in the 200 & 500 free, Doug Barber in the 200 IM, Connor Maher in the 50 free & 100 breastroke, Chris Granata in the 100 butterfly, Joe Celestin in the 100 free, Luke Jenusaitis in the 100 backstroke, and our newest boy diver Matt Weber winning the diving event.  This proved to be a very good start to the 2009 season for the boys with our next opponent being Williston Northampton December 10, at Williston at 3:00pm.   A complete result of the meet can be found at www.nepssa.org, dual meets 2009.
