GIRLS SWIMMING - NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Hopkins girls swim team traveled to Deerfield Academy to compete in the New England Championships on Saturday, March 6, coming away with a second place finish, only one point behind Phillips Academy at Andover (268 pts. to 267 pts.). This marked the second year in a row that the Hopkins girls finished in second place. While the entire team performed exceptionally well, swims of note were the 200 yard medley relay of Kristen Skroski, Kara Bolles, Claire Nugent, and Kelly Donovan (1:52.49)which qualified for consideration All-American; Kristen Skroski in the 200 yard freestyle (1:54.15)which broke the Hopkins school record and qualified for consideration All-American; and the 400 yard free relay of Kelly Donovan, Kara Bolles, Megan Loock and Kristen Skroski(3:38.68) which broke the Hopkins school record and qualified for consideration All-American. Other finalists included Megan Loock in the 200 free, 500 free and 200 free relay; Laura Strittmatter in the 200 free, 500 free and 200 free relay; Kara Bolles in the 200 IM and 100 breastroke; Claire Nugent in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly; Kelly Donovan in the 50 and 100 free; Eva Kolstad in the 50 free and 200 free relay; Ali Tichy in the 100 butterfly, 100 backstroke and 200 free relay; Meghan Earley in the 500 free; and Maryanna Saenko in the 500 free.

BOYS SWIMMING - NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Hopkins boys swim team competed in the New England Championships on Sunday, March 7, at Deerfield Academy finishing in 10th place. This was a significant improvement from last year's 14th place finish, and an 11th place finish just one week earlier at the Western New England Championships. Finalists in this year's meet were Ben Zlotoff in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free relay, and 200 medley relay; Dan Smith in the 100 breastroke, 200 medlay relay, and 200 free relay, Sean Harrity in the 100 butterfly, and 200 medley relay; Nick Perkins in the 200 free relay; and Seth Halpern in the 200 free relay.
