Hopkins J-School Girls Fall to Squash Haven

The Hopkins girls played cross-town program SquashHaven, a well-coached year-around squash and academic program. The main round matches all went to SH, though several of the matches went beyond three games, and all of the Hopkins girls dug deeply into their squash bags to play new ways that pushed the experienced girls of SH.
Pick up matches followed, with several of the Hopkins girls playing one or two steps down the SquashHaven ladder – though some played up several steps – and this round brought success to many. A few notable matches went the full number of games, whether five early or three later, as the day drew on, and the J-School girls won matches by opening up the floor with cross-courts and an increased variety and control of shots.
Losing matches is tough for any team and a rare, perhaps forgotten, experience for this one, but the rising level of the day’s squash and the depth of grit was something to remember.
