Recent Hopkins grad, Evan DeCarlo '12, published his first novel this month, the first book in a trilogy titled Children of The Noah. Evan is studying screen writing at the School of Visual Arts in New York, and has been working on this young adult sci-fi/fantasy novel since he graduated from Hopkins. Children of the Noah: The Barren Earth was published by Castle Strome Press, and is available for purchase on Amazon. Congratulations, Evan, on this incredible accomplishment!
Book Description from his website: When a mysterious comet crashes into Cankerwood Forest on the first night of summer break, fourteen year old Franklin Freeman and his two friends go to investigate. What they find instead, a time machine called the Noah piloted by an amnesiac known only as Hess, launches them accidentally on an odyssey into the future. They quickly find themselves stranded on a post-apocalyptic Earth in the dismal 33rd Century, where they must struggle to save the last humans on the planet, members of a dystopian society called The Lonies.
Stolen away from their comfortable suburban upbringing and thrust into the grim reality of a destroyed future, the children of the Noah face off against the Mites, a race of subterranean creatures hell-bent on devouring what remains of life on Earth. Who is the mysterious amnesiac Hess? Why has he been sent on a journey in a malfunctioning time machine? And what has befallen the poor, ruined planet Earth? Will the children be able to subvert Armageddon and rewrite the future, or will they remain hopelessly lost in time?
