Captain Luca Richo fired in a second-half penalty to ensure a 1-0 Hopkins win at FAA rival GFA. Max Fujimori (2023) won the penalty after some smart dribbling down the left, and Richo made sure from the spot.
Hopkins and GFA both created good scoring chances throughout the game, played on an impressive new turf field. The Hilltopper defense held on for the shutout - Teddy Glover (2021) and Owen Lamothe (2022) both saved well in goal, while Kiernan Barket (2020), Zach Bleil (2022), Collin Gernhardt (2020), Khelan Parikh (2020), and Henry Glover (2024) combined at the back.
Hopkins next plays in the Northeast Soccer Jamboree, a college showcase event, this Sunday. The team will travel to Loomis for a game against Choate.
Hopkins is a private middle school and high school for grades 7-12. Located on a campus overlooking New Haven, CT, the School takes pride in its intellectually curious students as well as its dedicated faculty and staff.
