APAC Transforms Into Narnia For J School Play

On Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10 at the Academic and Performing Arts Center (APAC), the Hopkins J-School Drama performed The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, dramatized by author Joseph Robinette.  Directed by drama teacher Michael Calderone, ,the production transported the audience to the magical land of Narnia, marking the first Junior School show in the new APAC theater, which opened in the Fall of 2024.
"These 7th graders will be the first generation of Hopkins students to brave the challenges and adventures of APAC, with their 8th-grade cast and crew mates, for their entire Hopkins career," Calderone wrote in the program's Director's Notes. "Both, like the Pevensie children, are poised for such adventures in this new space which, for tonight, is called Narnia."

The show was both magical and intense, featuring a choreographed battle scene with strobe lights. The J-School cast brought the classic story to life with heart and imagination.

Congratulations to the cast and crew on an outstanding performance!
