Hopkins Wins 2nd Consecutive FAA Title

Hopkins captured its second consecutive FAA title with a 4-0 in over St. Luke's on Parr Field.

The Hilltoppers capped off an 8-5-4 season with perhaps its best game of 2018. It took a few minutes for the team to settle into the match, but Hopkins eventually took over possession and kept the ball in St. Luke's half. It wasn't until about three minutes left in the first half that Hopkins was able to put the ball into the net. In a captain connection, Bruno Moscarini drilled a free kick that Ethan Pritchard nodded home.

Hopkins kept up the pressure at the beginning of the second half. After a disallowed goal, Moscarini again caused problems with a powerful run into the the box. He was brought down but picked himself up to convert the penalty.

Amidst snow flurries, the Storm worked hard to get themselves back into the game. The Hilltoppers back line was resolute, though. Brennan Gollaher secured the shutout in net. Jack Dove (2019), Minjae Ko (2019), Collin Gernhardt (2020), Kiernan Barket (2020), and Avi Shein (2020) all contributed to the clean sheet.

With seven minutes to go, Hopkins scored their third. A tiki-taka series of passes culminated with a Pritchard backheel to Moscarini. The captain scored his 11th goal of the season to put Hopkins 3-0 up.

With just two minutes to go, the Hilltoppers finished off their performance with a fourth goal. Senior Ben Goldstein flicked the ball into the path of junior Luca Richo. His left-footed strike was his seventh of the season and brought the 2018 season to a successful close.
