Hopkins Tops GFA Today in FAA Operner

Susan Bennitt
The Hopkins Varsity Girls Tennis team travelled to GFA today, to face off with GFA in our first FAA match of the season. GFA should never be underestimated as they always have very hearty players. Marion took care of business with GFA Capt. Devon Wolfe and entirely dominated the match on Devon's home court. It was great to see Marion take charge from the first serve, while Devon didn't manage at any point thereafter to get under Marion's skin, which she might have on a better day. Catherine split sets against GFA Capt. Kate Flicker, but after a decisive 6-1 second set for Catherine, her confidence was high and she finished Kate off in the tie-break. At three singles, Olivia put Allie Agnew away in a quick 6-0, 6-1, keeping Olivia's undefeated streak on Varsity tennis alive at 28-0 since her debut on the team a bit over a year ago. t four singles, Capt. Sam Phelan dealt wisely with her opponent and came out on top with a 6-3, 6-3.

On the Doubles courts, at one, Lera and Viv played beautifully to win their match 6-0, and 6-3. They are shaping up very nicely and showing great teamwork together! Juliana and Courtney had a tougher time of it at two doubles, splitting sets and then dropping the tie break 10-12. At three, Ellie and Drew wasted no time in getting off the court with a 6-0 and 6-1 win.

Congratulations to Caroline Viselli today who won her singles exhibition match 8-4, and to Catey Lasersohn and Lara Berliner who also won, 8-3.

It's a busy week. Assuming the weather holds tomorrow, we'll face Holy Child in our second FAA match.

It should be a great week for Hop tennis!
