Hopkins hit the highway today in order to get all the way down to New Canaan where we faced St. Luke's on their home court. Play began promptly at 4:30 on their four-court complex, with Max and Jake playing first in the singles group, and our duos Bryan/Jacob and Gray/Will out in the first round of doubles play, while Lucio, Alex and team Lucas/Karun followed.

Matches were close and took a long, long time to be decided. Will and Gray were first off the courts and earned the first point for our match with solid net play and good passing shots. Max and his opponent traded many long rallies, passing shots and service winners. Despite a break or two in each set, Max was able to square up the game score and ultimately come out a winner in an exciting match. Jake struggled against a consistent younger player today. Jacob and Bryan saw the momentum shift against them briefly during the second set but were able to right the ship when they needed to, and taking the W.

Lucio's partner came out blasting winner after winner in the first set, but our Line 2 veteran tried a new strategy or two in order to stymie his opponent's power game, thereby turning the match in his favor and getting the win in a close super tiebreaker. Lucas and Karun played flawlessly together and quickly overcame their opponents. Alex out-rallied his opponent to get the last point for Hopkins.

We have only two FAA matches left to play--GCDS at home on Saturday, and at GFA next Wednesday (5/7). We will train hard this week in order to be ready for these challenging contests, as well as for our two remaining NEPSAC meetings, Avon Old Farms and Loomis Chaffee, both at home.

We'd like to thank all of our devoted parents and their beloved, friendly dogs for coming out to support us each match. You all are welcome any time to cheer on the Hilltoppers!

YEAH HOP!!
