Softball Back to Winning Ways

Coming off of two losses the softball squad was hungry for a victory. Despite the heat, the Hilltoppers started off with four quick runs. Some great bunts for base hits! First baseman Kim Neubert had a strong offensive day, going 3 for 3 with a triple, an RBI and 2 runs scored. Shortstop Kate Lupo added to her stats with a double, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Third baseman Christina Clark, catcher Aleks Romano and outfielders Laurel Clark and Nicole DaCosta had great pokes to the outfield but were robbed by great catches by the defense. Elise Cardinale’s wheels allowed her to reach first several times with bunts, followed by two stolen bases and two runs scored. Back-up catcher Abby Walworth did a fine job catching the last few innings and she contributed a clutch RBI single in the 7th.
And…..another no-hitter for pitcher Jackie Jacobi! She faced 20 batters and struck out 16! She added to the RBI list with 2.
Keep it up, Hop!
