Team News

The Hopkins Junior School Softball team extended their winning streak to three straight with a victory over Country School, 16-15. The team owes much gratitude to the young Katie Schaffer who has never pitched in a game this season. After losing Micha Thompson and Julia Jaffe to prior outside commitments, Katie was forced to enter the game in the top of the seventh and protect their 6 run lead. An extremely nervous Katie took the mound, and although she walked all of their batters, she made one crucial out in the inning that allowed Hopkins to maintain a one run lead for the win. Offensively the team was lead by Maddie Pantalena with 2 singles, Ashley Reidy with 1 single and 1 double, Ogechi Musa with 1 homerun, Gabby Guevara with 1 double, Katie Schaffer with 1 double, Ali Briskin with 1 double, Micha Thompson with 1 single and Julie Jaffe with 1 single. Although Karla Briggs, Rasa Guarnaccia and Sydney Graetz went hitless, they were extremely patient at the plate, earning a couple of walks. The team looks to close the season next Wednesday with a win over St. Margaret’s.
