On March 14, 2008, Hopkins hosted a VIP Day for accepted students and parents to visit the School for an in-depth look before making a final decision. Director of Admissions Dana Blanchard '63 explained further, "VIP Day is a second visit day, an opportunity for accepted applicants to see the school in operation as they make their decision whether to attend."
Visitors were here for the morning, which included an assembly where there were various musical and dramatic presentations as well as announcements about recent student accolades, three classes, and lunch with 8th graders as well as 9th graders. While the students were in class, their parents quizzed a panel of current students and heard about the academic program from the department heads in the dining room.
According to Mr. Blanchard, "The day went very well: attendance was good and everything ran smoothly." More than 50 students visited and the comments from these students and their parents have been most positive: “My husband and I were very impressed. We enjoyed the candor and the enthusiasm of the panelists. The faculty gave good talks as well- concise and informative and upbeat.” (prospective parents of a 9th grade student)
