HOP at the Science Olympiad Invitational

On Saturday, January 18, two teams from Hopkins competed in a Science Olympiad Invitational at Yale University against teams from all over New England, gearing up for the state competition coming up in March.

Undergraduates at Yale University hosted a Science Olympiad Invitational Tournament on Saturday, January 18, 2014. Events ranged from Entomology to Circuit Lab to Mission Possible, spanning the fields of Earth Science, Physics, Biology and Chemistry. Some were test-based and other required students to build a device to accomplish a particular goal. 21 of the 23 events scheduled for this year were run.

Hopkins sent two teams to compete in the event. The Hopkins "A" team won 5th place overall out of 47 teams. The teams came from 5 states: CT, NY, PA, GA and MA. NY and PA, in particular, have very extensive, competitive Science Olympiad programs statewide so competing against such teams was a valuable experience to help Hopkins get ready for the state competition on March 29, 2014.
