Brendan Tagliarini ’28 Secures U.S. Junior Open Title and Podiums in UK

Varsity Squash player Brendan Tagliarini ’28 recently represented the United States on the national and international stage, securing first place in the U.S. Junior Open and a third-place finish at the British Junior Open.

The U.S. Junior Open finals were held on December 23, at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia. Entering as the top seed, Tagliarini claimed his first BU17 championship title by defeating Egypt’s Yassin Kouritam (8-11, 11-5, 11-5, 11-4) in a fifty-minute match.

Two weeks later, on January 5, Tagliarini reached the semifinals of the British Junior Open in Birmingham. Following a hard-fought battle against India’s Shiven Agarwal, he finished the tournament in third place.

Tagliarini was one of five Americans to reach the semifinals this year—marking only the third time in program history, and the third consecutive year that five Americans have achieved this international feat.
